I have been doing art my entire life since the beginning of kindergarten and even beyond. My school gave everyone a chance to do art and other various subjects to adjust too or think of advancing towards for the future. Art has always been my favorite since I could always express all my ideas and creations onto a canvas or paper and it is just fun too! My teacher gave us many different options from small projects to simple sketches in class that made me so excited to finish. But I think what really made like art so much was the excitement of finishing the artwork. Seeing it finally done after putting all your hard work and time into it gives myself such a happy feeling or accomplishment inside me. And the more I completed, the more I wanted to try. My goal is to become the best artist that I can be. I want to be able to create what ideas I have inside my head onto paper. Be able to create art that makes everyone happy. This reminds me of the times when after every art class, I would tell and show my mom what I did and seeing her so proud encouraged me to keep on moving and to keep on growing along with my art. And based off my few years of learning, I have never felt so accomplished before, and couldn’t be more excited to see what more projects I will complete in my future.
2. Why do I make this kind of art?
I make this type of art because it all represents a little bit of myself. It reflects off my personality and feelings on the piece. But art for in general should be enjoyed by all. Through feelings, thoughts, likes, dislikes. Art brings out our inner selves, from the artist to the viewer. We are all different and we all have different personalities. Not everyone likes flowery background paintings or modern statues, but that’s the thing with art. Art is limitless. You can create what YOU want to create. Some people do like flowery backgrounds and modern sculptures. Art brings out everyone’s favorite things. I make art, so everyone can be happy and find joy in their life.
3. What is my most important artist tool? Why? How did I use it to express myself?
My imagination is my most important tool. It is my power source behind my work. Once I have one idea in mind, I keep on adding more and more to it. Pushing myself to try and bring it to the next level. Without it, I wouldn’t have been able to do half the pieces that I have done. Imagination makes all your ideas even better. It brings them to the next level. Just like art, your imagination is limitless and is built around your personality. That is why all art is unique, and why I consider it to my greatest tool. Without it, my art would probably be pretty boring. So, combining my ideas with my imagination gives my art it’s personal touch that brings out my personality in it, telling everyone who I am.
4. What art education have I completed? What galleries has my art been shown in? What awards did I receive and what achievements in the art world have I accomplished?
For the last year and a half I have really started to spread out and start to share my art more to the public. Trying new things such as local art shows and even nationwide competitions. But the only incredible reason that I was given the ability to submit my work to these shows and galleries is through my education of art class at my school in a studio art class along with some background knowledge from years past of less advanced art classes. Throughout this year I have learned so much in art and couldn’t be more grateful for receiving such an incredible education and teacher that I know will only grow stronger in the future. And thanks to my teacher, I have grown more confident on showing my art work more in public. I first entered in a local art show with my art being presented in a gallery there. Though I did not place, I was still proud of myself for trying this and thankful for being given the opportunity to try it. I did a year later participate in this contest again and won 3rd place for my "Still Life" piece. I then later entered in my school art show my Dragon Eye drawing, earning a best in show award. No words could have described what I felt when I was told this. Earning this achievement has encouraged me to try even harder so I can continue with my goals in art. But my greatest achievement is earning the award of being in the top 200 out of 10,000 artists in the Nation-Wide Art competition by entering two of most favorite pieces, my "Dragon Eye" and "George Washington" and earning their pictures to be published in a book. These accomplishments that I have made over the past year, has given me the encouragement to never stop believing in my art and in myself because I know I am capable of doing great things with my art in the future.
